The Romanian Parliament supports and requests the conferment of the status of EU candidate for the Republic of Moldova at the next European Council. The Romanian Parliament also wants to expand the trade and economic partnership to allow wider access to the European single market and thus the accelerated development of the Republic of Moldova, said Marcel Ciolacu, President of the Chamber of Deputies, at the joint sitting of Chisinau of the Romanian and Moldovan Parliaments.
“Also, Romania, together with its NATO and EU partners, reaffirms its support and guarantee of security for the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova and its right to follow its European path. Romania responds positively to the call made by the Republic of Moldova and will provide all necessary support for the development of defense, security and anti-hybrid capabilities to ensure the independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova (…) I have seen many say that Putin started this absurd war because it seeks to regain the lost greatness of Russia. I believe that a state is not great by subjugating its neighbors by force and oppression. Through murder and pain! A state achieves its greatness through collaboration and openness to the world. Through the economy, through culture, through education, through the values that he shares with others “, Marcel Ciolacu declared in the joint sitting of the two national parliaments.
The President of the Chamber of Deputies also pointed out that Romania has a responsibility to ensure stability and development in the region and this means a responsibility to support and develop the Republic of Moldova. And from this perspective, national parliaments are the guarantee of cooperation based on democratic principles, diversity of opinion and respect between nations.
“Romania not only recognizes the European destiny of the Republic of Moldova, but also wants and believes in a real perspective for joining the European Union,” Ciolacu said.
Ciolacu: “We can argue about who has the best wine or if ZDOB and ZDUB should represent Romania at Eurovision, so that we can take a better place”
The Romanian official also said that “it is time to assume this common destiny by including the development of a common economic and commercial area and facilitating the flow of people.”
“It must be as easy for an entrepreneur to do business in Chisinau as in Bucharest and to get from Iasi to Balti as he does from Alba-Iulia to Cluj. We are the first trading partner of the Republic of Moldova, but we want to continue to invest even more.
Therefore, we need fiscal incentives and facilities for Romanian state and private companies, but also for local authorities that want to invest here “, said Marcel Ciolacu.
Romania does not want to give lessons to anyone, Ciolacu added, but he understands very well the region and how it can help the states in the area to develop.
“It simply came to our notice then. We can’t always agree. And it’s not good either. We can, for example, argue about who has the best wine or if ZDOB and ZDUB should also represent Romania at Eurovision, so that we can take a better place. But we will never be in dissonance when it comes to the fundamental values of European democracy. We will always be on the same side regarding the European destiny of the Republic of Moldova! ”, Declared the president of the Chamber of Deputies.
