Zelensky: European leaders' visit to Kyiv marks a "historic day" Peskov: Russia wants to complete its mission in the Donbas

Ukraine will continue to receive arms, political and humanitarian support and, most likely, candidate status for accession to the European Union. These are the main promises made yesterday in Kyiv by Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Sholz, Mario Draghi and Klaus Iohannis. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the visit of the four European leaders to Kyiv marked a “historic day” for his country.

Ukraine threatens to blow up Putin’s bridge

UPDATE 07 47 Ukraine gave the impression on Thursday that it was preparing to attack the Russian-built bridge over the Kerch Strait – also known as “Putin’s Bridge”, which connects Russia and the Crimea. Ukrainian military intelligence has released a 300-page document detailing the construction of the bridge, saying it is information from official Russian sources.

Zelensky: European leaders’ visit to Kyiv marks “historic day”

UPDATE 07 40 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the visit of leaders of France, Germany, Italy and Romania to Kyiv marked a “historic day” for his country.

“Ukraine enjoys the support of four strong European states,” Volodymyr Zelensky said in his video on Thursday night, adding that Ukraine is now closer to the European Union than ever since its independence.

The European Commission is due to announce on Friday its assessment of Ukraine’s status as a candidate for accession, a key step in the long process of gaining full membership of the European Union.

Europe could write a new story about freedom and “finally eliminate the gray area between the EU and Russia,” thanks to the courage of Ukrainian men and women, Zelenski said.

Peskov: Russia will resist Western sanctions to complete its mission in the Donbas

UPDATE 07 35 Russia intends to withstand Western sanctions and achieve its goal in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by CNN.

Asked about Russia’s intention to occupy Ukrainian territories in Odessa, Kharkov and Kherson, Peskov said the decision would depend on “the will of the locals.”

“The number one goal is to protect the people of Donbas and Lugansk from those who are bombing Donetsk, for example, right now, and killing civilians there. And they’ve been doing that for the last 8-9 years, “he said.

“As for other territories and regions of Ukraine, the more our army cleans the territory of those nationalist regiments, the more people receive them and the more people declare their desire not to link their lives to the modern regime in Kyiv, “he said.
