In three days, hundreds of volunteers and locals rebuilt 30 facades, some of them important buildings for the community, with public functions.
The school was painted by a team of volunteers made up of employees of the Timiş County Council, and a team of volunteers from the Timiş Prefecture worked on a house located in the central area of the village. The kindergarten was also painted, and a team of young volunteers from the High School of Arts in Timişoara made a mural on it. All the buildings in the center of the village are now renovated.
The project also included the local water mill, the only one of its kind still preserved in Timiş County, which is in an advanced state of degradation. A team of volunteers worked for three days to restore value, clearing the vertical wheel and arranging it like a small museum.
The local Baptist community mobilized and completely painted the large new Baptist church, and volunteers formed a team to save the old 1936 Baptist church.
“Fărăşeşti is an extraordinary village, and we wanted to show everyone its true potential, by highlighting its beautifully decorated houses and gates, its location in an attractive natural setting, the traditional dishes, so as to create the basis for sustainable tourism for the local community. “, Said Radu Trifan, president of the Home in Banat Association.
Throughout the event, the volunteers also had traditionally cooked meals, with the support of the Association for the Promotion and Development of Tourism in Timiş.
Also, at the end of the event, with the help of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Banat and the Faculty of Horticulture and Forestry, the volunteers planted seasonal flowers at the renovated houses.
The Color the Village project of the Home in Banat Association is unique in the country and aims to highlight the typical architecture of this area.
This year, the fourth edition of Color the Village took place, and next year another locality from Banat will be chosen. The previous editions took place in Ilidia (2021), Racoviţa (2020) and Eftimie Murgu (2019).
