Justin Bieber reports that he has facial paralysis due to Ramsay Hunt Syndrome

Canadian singer Justin Bieber announced to his fans on Friday, in a video recorded on Instagram, that he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which causes him partial facial paralysis, and as a result, he interrupts his “Justice World Tour” tour. In the video, he proves to the fans that he can no longer move half of his face. He can blink with only one eye and smile with only half his mouth.

The 28-year-old pop artist’s announcement came a few hours before a concert scheduled in Toronto, after he had already canceled a few other shows last week. However, six days ago he was caught by the paparazzi in New York, where he went out to the restaurant with his wife and some friends, and it seemed OK.

“It’s from this virus that attacks my ear nerve and facial nerves and made my face motionless,” he said in the video. “As you can see, this eye does not blink. I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril is not moving. So, there is a complete paralysis on this side of my face ”(right – no), Justin Bieber explained.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Ramsay Hunt syndrome occurs when the shingles virus affects the facial nerve in the ear area. In addition to the painful rash of the shingles, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear, writes CNN.

“It simply came to our notice then. I wish it weren’t so, but obviously my body tells me I need to take it slower. I hope you understand me. I will use this period to rest and relax and to return one hundred percent, so that I can do what I was born to do “, he tells the fans.

He thanks them and promises that he will do facial exercises, but says he does not know how long the recovery will take. “It will be good, I have hope and I trust God,” he concluded.

In March, his wife, model Hailey Bieber, was hospitalized with a small blood clot in her brain. She later explained that a small hole was discovered in her heart and from there the clot probably went to her brain. The young woman underwent heart surgery.

Both Justin and Hailey did COVID this year.
